How To Install Minecraft Plugins In Game Panel

One of the most exciting things about the Minecraft server is the ability to optimize it past what Vanilla Minecraft can offer. Plugins are the best way to do this. The reasoning behind this is that plugins only need to be installed on the server, unlike mods, as mods need to be installed on both the server and Minecraft client itself.

How do you install plugins automatically

Install Minecraft Java Edition on your server. Once that's done click on the Manage button for your Minecraft server instance:

Choose Configuration

You can choose Server settings from there. The option you are looking at is Server type. There you will be able choose from a variety custom server types.

To install plugins, you'll need to choose one from the following:

Type of server

Modified vanilla Minecraft server with the Bukkit API (Application Program Interface) built into it. Bukkit, the API that Bukkit plugins utilize to interact with this server, is called Bukkit.

Spigot

Modified Minecraft server based upon CraftBukkit. This provides additional performance optimizations as well as configuration options and features. However, it is compatible with all existing plugins.

 PaperMC*

Spigot Minecraft Server High Performance Fork. It aims to fix inconsistencies in gameplay and mechanics as well as improve performance. The paper includes many features, bug fixes as well as exploit preventions. It also contains major performance improvements that are not found in Spigot.

After selecting the server type you prefer, click on the Download/Update button. The download will immediately begin:

After the download is completed your server will be ready with plugins. Navigate back to the Instance section and choose Plugins.

Select a plugin you like, then click on Install.

If you have questions about the plugin and need more information, just click the Discussion button.

After installing the plugins, you will need your server to load their configuration.

How do I manually install plugins?

You can always manually install your plugin if you don't see it in the list.

You will first need to download the plugin from their official site. It should be in.jar format. Once you have done that, open File Manager.

Find plugins folder and open it by double-clicking:

And lastly, use the drag-drop method to upload the plugin from your computer to the server instance. Make sure the plugin is uploaded to the Plugins folder. After the upload is complete, restart your server

It is worth noting, that regardless of the method used to install plugins, all of them will be stored in the Plugins folder with their configuration.

How to verify that plugins are functioning?

After you restart your server, open your Server console:

You can also write plugins

This will display the list of plugins currently installed on your server. :

This command works even if you are logged into the server. However, you should put a slash before the command if you are playing in-game. It should look like this: /plugins
